Take time to consider life changing move
By Shirley Gilbertson
UK Manager
MIGRATION to Australia. Do we really think about what it means. It's
not just a matter of finding a new job with better prospects and off we
go. It relay is making the decision to change your life completely
forever. On the other side of the world.
Nothing will be the same ever again. Even if you came back things would not be the same.
This is why you need to think about it from every angle. And from everyone's point of view.
One thing you can be sure of is that it is the biggest decision you are
likely to make. And you are making it on behalf of other people besides
yourself.
If you are contemplating migration at all you will already have read up
on some of the plus sides of things and maybe even found out about some
of the minuses. What minuses. I hear you cry. Well there are always
minuses in everything we decide to do.
Look at some of the easy pluses, the temperature is going to be higher, always a plus here in the UK.
Houses are as a rule bigger and not so close together. If you have a
property to sell over here you will probably have either enough to buy
outright over there or with a small mortgage get a much larger property
complete with pool. Providing that you are in a desired occupation you
are probably going to be looking at better wages.
Just think of the holidays you can have without having to travel to the
other side of the world because you are already there. All of a sudden
snorkelling, skiing, sailing, swimming, sightseeing, snowboarding,
shopping are all on the things to do list and that's just the s's.
Don't get me wrong. I am not saying don't go. I am saying look into it.
That is what we produce this newspaper for. And do visit before you go.
At least once to each state you are considering then for a bit longer
once you have an idea of where you want to go to get a better idea of
location in relation to where you will work.
Always get some kind of job lined up if you can as working will help
with the normality of life. Don't forget it doesn't matter which of you
works just as long as one of you have enough points to make migration
possible in the first place.
Extra points can be had for settling in townships and out of the way
places but don't forget distances are not what we are used to. Whoever
is going to be at home has to be comfortable with their own company. A
happy migrant is an independent, self confident person who easily makes
friends.
Whatever you decide, we are here to help you get the most up to date
information on every aspect of the migration process and what it can
mean to you and your family. Take out a subscription and keep yourself
informed. |
