Work or study in Oz and NZ

YOU MAY not be able to afford a long-stay holiday in Australia or New Zealand, but there are several ways you can have that dream holiday.
Two of the most popular are to take a working holiday or to study in either country, at school or, usually, university.
Both countries accept working holiday makers, which allows you to earn vital beer money and also see the country at some leisure.
Australia accepts around 80,000 per year from some 15 countries, mainly in Europe, and new countries are added on a regular basis, but most people are from the UK, while New Zealand usually take some 8,000 from the UK and a further 1,000 from Ireland - generally from March/April so you should contact New Zealand House shortly.
In Australia you can study at either a State or private school or a university (although the fees can be expensive, but not as high as in most UK universities or private schools), while in New Zealand you need an offer from the education provider to study there. But you do need some good old fashioned loot in the bank before entering the country.
You may also be able to get part-time work to earn some cash and Australia allows you to work up to 20 hours per week in term time and full-time during holiday periods.
The leading universities in both Australia and New Zealand are well recognized world-wide and a degree from them will stand you in good stead - plus be cheaper to obtain, probably, than one from the UK, and certainly from a US university.
If you were very lucky you could gain a scholarship or bursary, especially if you already have a degree or are studying a vital subject and are pretty good at it. There are literally hundreds of them at Australian and New Zealand universities, many of which are little-known, so offering you a good chance of acceptance.
If you wanted to go abroad (not Australia or New Zealand) and earn really good money then try teaching English to the locals, both students and adults. You do not need to be an expert in English language, or the classics, and you can go to various colleges, where you can learn to teach English. There's a never-ending need for people to teach English.
