Visit best of the West
OF THE hundreds of thousands of backpackers who visit Australia each
year, huge numbers 'do' the much-hyped East Coast and don't visit the
West. We say they're seriously missing out because:
1. Perth - Modern, vibrant and with 19 (count 'em) beaches
2. Ningaloo Reef - Swim with underwater giants like whale sharks (the world's biggest fish), dolphins, dugongs, manta rays and turtles.
3. Ancient Art -
Hunt around the Burrup Peninsula, near Dampier, to find more than
10,000 ancient aboriginal rock engravings dating back 40,000 years.
4. Rock out -
Western Australia has some of the weirdest and most wonderful rock
formations you're ever likely to see. The Pinnacles, the Bungle Bungles
(good enough for Granny Helen, good enough for you!)
5. Peachy beaches -
Ride a camel across Western Australia's most famous seaside spot, Cable
Beach; watch sunbathing 'roos at Lucky Bay; surf in Lancelin.
