Australia - safe clean, friendly

IF you're going on holiday then you might as well visit two of the best tourist destinations in the world, - Australia and New Zealand - even if it means flying half-way round the globe to reach them.
In a recent major travel magazine survey, Australia has been voted the world's best tourist destination, mainly thanks to its fantastic scenery, with New Zealand rated seventh.
To make things even better, Sydney tied with New York as the world's best tourist city. But there's little doubt that Sydney is far cleaner and safer than the Big Apple. You can wander through Sydney's 'notorious' Kings Cross at any time of the day or night (and thousands do) with very little danger.
The city didn't rate too well for romance or culture but thousands of overseas visitors seem to find enough of both to keep them happy.
And there's certainly enough to keep all overseas visitors to both Australia and New Zealand happy for the whole of their stay, whether they visit city, outback or country, or all three.
While it's a long haul to either country, and air fares may seem high there's fantastic stop-over countries on the way (Thailand was voted second best tourist country)to help break the flight and they are all cheap.
The same is true of both Australia and New Zealand. Once you get there the pound sterling or the euro will buy you far more than at home. And you can drink the water and eat the food without any problems, while hotels, apartments or hostels are of world class standard and reasonably priced, even in the major cities.
If you're on a working holiday visa there's a wide variety of work, from office work in Sydney to hotel work on one of Queensland's resort islands, to fruit picking or working on a sheep/cattle property in the outback.
And the weather is just brilliant at any time of year -
